About HGR
Welcome to Holy Grail Ratings! Here I provide AFL team ratings and weekly margin forecasts. I use an offensive and defensive Elo (ODELO) system (Read more here) that quantifies the performance of a team’s abilities on each side of the ball relative to the average team at a neutral venue. I plan to post semi-regular content on the development of the model as well as other AFL phenomenon which interest me.
About Me
I’m a recent graduate of the Australian National University, where I studied Mathematial Finance and Politics, Philosophy and Economics. I’m interested in statistics and financial and betting markets, and most importantly AFL. The long-term goal of HGR is to combine these interests to create a margin model with an edge on betting markets. Outside of my stuides I work as a management consultant and enjoy swimming and running.
